Charles Bailey former collegiate athlete and now professional performance coach talks about functional movement in sport.
*As a professional, performance coach and a former elite collegiate
champion the utilization of baseline measurements serves as the gauge for
improvement and development in any physically practical application.*
*Tools like the functional movement screen may not necessarily be the sole
remedy to injury prevention and performance enhancement; but an argument
may be expressible: in identifying weaknesses and correcting those
weaknesses may further unlock and strengthen the everyday values of
recovery and life beyond the realm of athletic performance.*
*In the area of sport; the game may not always go to the way of those more
talented; passionate or proud, but the healthiest. A world record holder;
point-scorer or running back can only be as effective as his or her
inefficiency will allow.*
*Conclusively, elevating the level, dependence or even the influence of
structural and neuro-muscular sequencing and coding is a means of nearly
guaranteeing injury. At it's worse, ignoring the benefit of "functional"
development may condemn an athlete to a lifelong of treating muscular
imbalances that otherwise would have been noticed and improved. This leads
to the diminishing value of the quality of life within and after the given
demand of sport has ended.*
